“MEDIATING CAMERA”

Lomonosov Moscow State University, Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences invite you to IX Moscow International Forum of Visual Anthropology “Mediating Camera” in May of 2021. Dates of the forum: from May 11 to May 16.
Forum considers documentaries about the cultures of different peoples of the world, made not earlier than 2018.
Attracting attention of a wide range of experts and audience to the diversity and beauty of various cultural traditions of peoples of the world remains our primary concern. But according to the title of our Forum – «Mediating Camera», we especially welcome films in which the dialogue of cultures is carried out through the realization of author’s ethical responsibility.
A special Debut Competition will be held for those authors who’ve made their first film. The competition is online and the winners are determined by audience votes.
Screenings will be accompanied by discussions with directors and anthropologists.
You will be able to participate in thematic seminars on problems and perspectives of Vsual Anthropology application in sociocultural and scientific-educational practices.
The deadline for applications: October 1, 2020. But we always appreciate your ability to send them as soon as possible.
All submitted materials stay in Festival archive for non-commercial usage in scientific and educational purposes.
We accept only full online versions of films for selection to the festival program. Films must be accompanied by English subtitles. Please do not send films that were presented at the festival in previous years.
The organizing committee of the festival is considering the possibility of partial funding of participants’ expenses.
